Institute Hosts China Delegation

Today the Institute hosts a visiting delegation of academic officials from Mainland China here to learn about the Master of Science in Analytics (MSA) degree program. The delegation is headed by Mr. Yuan Wei, statistics professor and Executive Vice President of Renmin University. Professor Yuan was appointed as Deputy Director of China Master of Applied Statistics (MAS) Education Steering Committee. In addition, the delegation comprises the dean of School of Statistics and other senior officials. Professor Yuan serves as the vice chair of the Master of Applied Statistics Advisory Board, a national organization set up by the Ministry of Education in China to help guide the new MAS program to be launched in 2011. The Yuan delegation follows a larger delegation hosted by the Institute in May 2010.

Located in Beijing, Renmin University (previously known as People’s University of China), is considered one of the top universities in China, with a distinct focus on humanities and social sciences. With a faculty of 1,485 the 2010-11 enrollment is 18,750, split evenly between undergraduate and postgraduate students.
