Registration Opens

The Institute offers two courses for individuals who do not already have the prerequisite knowledge of statistics to enroll in the Master of Science in Analytics degree program. Registration is now open for ST513 and ST514, which are taught online and can be taken in either Fall or Spring semesters. The prerequisites are intended for prospective MSA applicants (including those who are not currently enrolled at NC State) to help prepare for admission in the summer of 2014. Those individuals looking to take their first course in statistics should start with ST513. Individuals with prior coursework in statistics may be eligible to enroll directly into ST514.

MSA Students Donate School Supplies

It’s back to school this week for hundreds of 6th-, 7th-, and 8th-graders at nearby Centennial Campus Middle School. The MSA Class of 2014 sought to lend a helping hand to our Centennial Campus neighbors by holding a charitable drive to donate school supplies—from pencils and notebooks to backpacks to USB data storage devices—everything schoolchildren need to be productive, but cannot always afford on a tight family budget. The Institute welcomes to campus 85 candidates in the Master of Science in Analytics (MSA) Class of 2014, the seventh cohort to enter its innovative 10-month degree program. Call for Proposals – Analytics Practicum

The Institute for Advanced Analytics invites interested organizations to submit a proposal to sponsor a practicum team project for the Master of Science in Analytics (MSA) Class of 2014. Sponsors identify challenging business problems and share data for their team to analyze. The Institute can accept up to seventeen proposals this year. The proposal submission period is open now through July 31. To learn more about how to submit a proposal, please see the guidelines for Practicum Sponsorship. 2013 Director’s Prize Awarded

Erin Cutrell and Taylor Shipman share this year’s Director’s Prize as the top graduates in the Master of Science in Analytics (MSA) Class of 2013. Cutrell and Shipman receive the prize in recognition by their peers of their superior performance throughout the 10-month program. MSA Commencement Ceremony

The Institute for Advanced Analytics held its annual commencement exercise for the Master of Science in Analytics (MSA) Class of 2013. Diplomas were awarded to eighty-one degree candidates. The Institute’s director, Dr. Michael Rappa, presided over the ceremony, held at the Raleigh Convention Center, and was joined by members of the faculty and staff and four-hundred guests. It was the Institute’s sixth commencement exercise since its inception in 2007. The new graduates join the Institute’s alumni community, which now numbers 255 graduates. Dasmohapatra Promoted

Congratulations to Dr. Sudipta Dasmohapatra on her promotion to Associate Professor. Dr. Dasmohapatra joined the NC State in 2007 as Assistant Professor in Forest Biomaterials. She received her Ph.D. in 2004 from The Pennsylvania State University. Her interests are in the area of strategic marketing, distribution and value addition strategies and marketing research methods. She teaches Customer Analytics in the Master of Science in Analytics (MSA) degree program. Dr. Dasmohapatra recently spoke on a panel at the eMetrics Summit in San Francisco.

Job Placement Tops 90%

The Master of Science in Analytics (MSA) Class of 2013 heads to commencement with a bright future. Highly capable analytics professionals ready to tackle the challenges of big data, they are in high demand in virtually every sector of the economy. The 81-member Class of 2013 (double the size of prior classes) became the sixth consecutive cohort to attain over 90-percent job placement by graduation since the Institute’s inception in 2007. Starting Salaries Set New Record

Employer demand for Master of Science in Analytics (MSA) graduates remains exceptionally strong. With one month until graduation preliminary data on job placement shows over 90-percent of the Class of 2013 have received one or more offers of employment, and over 80-percent have accepted new positions. Two-thirds of the class received two or more job offers, and over half received three or more. The Institute hosted recruiting visits for 47 employers, and students averaged 15 initial job interviews. MSA Class of 2014 Takes Shape

Enrollment of the incoming Master of Science in Analytics (MSA) Class of 2014 is close to completion. It is the most competitive admission cycle since the MSA program’s inception in 2007, with a record low acceptance rate of 21-percent for the intensive 10-month program. The admissions committee reviewed 468 applications—up 72-percent over the previous year—and interviewed 210 candidates to create the cohort of 85 students.
