Director Speaks at White House Event

The Institute’s director, Dr. Michael Rappa, traveled to Washington, DC, today to speak at the White House Big Data Partners Workshop. The workshop was convened by the Office of Science and Technology Policy and the Federal Networking and Information Technology Research and Development Program to encourage multiple stakeholders, including federal agencies, private industry, academia, state and local government, non-profits, and foundations to develop and participate in Big Data initiatives across the country. Also speaking on the panel were Jake Porway (DataKind), Annika Jimenez (Pivotal), Mark Peterson (USAID) and Stanley Ahalt (UNC).
