The Institute hosted several area experts today as part of a special daylong panel on analytics in health and life sciences. The panel was organized by Dr. Charles Coleman, Senior Managing Director at SAS and a member of the Institute’s Executive Board, and included guests: Dr. Heyward Hull, Clinical Professor of Pharmacotherapy and Experimental Therapeutics at the University of North Carolina School of Pharmacy; David Hadden, CEO of TheraSim; and Dr. Lisa LaVange, Professor of the Practice in Biostatistics at the University of North Carolina School of Public Health. The panel also included the Institute’s faculty, Dr. David Dickey and Dr. Henry Schaffer. The panel discussed the use of analytics in monitoring quality of care in hospitals to influence clinical performance outcomes, the use of in silico simulations, and the legal and ethical issues in biomedical informatics.
