Analytics Symposium – February 2nd

Registration is now open for the Digital Analytics Association (DAA) Raleigh Symposium, which will be hosted at the Institute for Advanced Analytics on February 2nd from 12:30–6:00pm. The symposium program includes Casey Carey (Director, Google Analytics Marketing at Google), Adam Greco (Senior Partner at Analytics Demystified), Brooks Bell (Founder and CEO at Brooks Bell), Sig Mejdal (Director of Decision Sciences at Houston Astros), Amy Sample (Sr. Director, Digital Analytics at Public Broadcasting Service), and Charlotte Whitmore (Founder at AnalyticsPros). The registration fee is $75 for DAA members and $125 for non-members.

The Institute welcomes applicants for the Master of Science in Analytics (MSA) Class of 2018, our 11th student cohort, which will begin studies in June. The MSA is the nation’s longest running full-fledged master’s degree program in data science with an unparalleled track record for producing highly sought-after graduates. Celebrate the Holidays!

Students in the Master of Science in Analytics (MSA) Class of 2017 celebrated the holidays with a mixture of good fun and community service. Students worked to bring together a wonderful collection of toys and other gifts for infants and children at WakeMed Hospital. The MSA Program is ‘In-Tents’

From Data Column, the MSA Student Blog, David Jordan writes: “As the title suggests, the MSA program is intense. There are projects, homeworks, and real-world practicum projects. Every aspect of the program is focused on “developing the world’s best data professionals,” as Dr. Rappa likes to say. However, this article isn’t about the program being intense, but rather it is about taking a break from the intensity, embarking on a journey, and ending up in tents.” Read more

Practicum Team Kick-offs

Twenty-four teams of Master of Science in Analytics (MSA) students spread out across the country the past few weeks to kick-off practicum projects with their sponsors. From Boston to Orlando to Dallas, Texas, teams traveled to meet with executives to review business objectives and to familiarize themselves with the sponsor organization and industry. The MSA Class of 2017 brings the total number of practicum projects to 130 with over 100 sponsors since the Institute’s inception in 2007.
