Healey, Simmons develop COVID-19 viz tool
Dr. Christopher Healey and Dr. Susan Simmons built a visualization dashboard using publicly available data that shows these comparisons and predictions. The work aims to predict the flattening in a region’s outbreak curve for both confirmed COVID-19 cases and for COVID-19 fatalities. Read more on the NC State News Service.

Teams Kick-off Practicum Projects
Twenty-four student teams in the Master of Science in Analytics (MSA) held meetings with their sponsors in various locations around the country. The teams spoke with executives to review business objectives and familiarize themselves with the sponsor organization. Grads Post University’s Highest Salaries
For the second consecutive year, graduates in the Master of Science in Analytics posted NC State’s highest average salaries and placement rate upon graduation in a ranking of academic units across campus. The data are compiled by the Office of Institutional Research and Planning. In the University’s second annual Future Plans Survey for Graduate Students in May, the Institute’s students ranked at the top among the nine colleges with an average reported salary of $101,117 (based on 111 students and a 100% response rate). Institute Welcomes the Class of 2020
The Master of Science in Analytics Class of 2020 arrives this week to begin the summer portion of its 10-month journey. The class is comprised of 119 students selected from a pool of over 1,100 applicants, representing 15 countries of origin and 23 states stretching from Massachusetts to California. With an acceptance rate of just 13%, the Class of 2020 is the sixth consecutive cohort to meet such a highly selective criteria for admission since the Institute’s inception in 2007. 2019 Employment Report
The Master of Science in Analytics (MSA) 2019 Employment Report is now available. The Class of 2019 achieved a placement rate at graduation of 95-percent, and the average base salary rose to $98,500—a new record high—with $92,400 for candidates with no prior work experience, and $109,500 for experienced candidates. Annual Commencement Exercise
Friends and family members gathered today for the Institute’s commencement ceremony honoring 111 students in the Class of 2019. It was a joyful occasion and there was a great deal to celebrate. The Class of 2019 set new records as was one of the most sought-after by employers in the Institute’s decade-long history. From Ballet Dancer to Data Analyst
Congratulations to Sarah Egan Warren on her award at the 14th annual Graduate Student Research Symposium held March 20. The symposium included poster presentations from more than 200 graduate students from NC State University. Students were nominated by Directors of Graduate Programs to participate. The posters were judged by faculty, and the top three posters from each category received recognition. Warren’s poster (“Former Ballet Dancers’ Transfer of 21st Century Skills to Careers as Data Analysts”) was awarded 3rd place for the College of Education where she is completing her PhD in Educational Leadership, Policy, and Human Development.
