Bio

Sarah Egan Warren joined the Institute for Advanced Analytics in August 2008.

Sarah has spent her career developing curricula and delivering presentations, training, and instruction in undergraduate, graduate, government, non-profit, and industry settings. At the IAA, she created and teaches the technical communication and ethical data storytelling curriculum. Her focus is on developing students’ confidence and competence with writing and speaking.

Sarah is an advocate for innovation in higher education–she was the first person to teach a fully online professional writing course at NC State, and then she taught other faculty to teach online. She is especially interested in the responsible use of technology, such as AI and VR, to enhance the student learning experience.

She is the lead facilitator of the UNC System’s faculty learning community on teaching and learning with AI, a DELTA AI Faculty Fellow, co-host of AI Cafe, and a member of NC State’s AI in Society group.

She received an NC State Faculty Excellence Award in 2023 and was recognized as a College of Humanities and Social Sciences Outstanding Lecturer in 2004.

Sarah enjoys gardening, walking greenway trails, pottery, dance (all kinds, but especially ballet), live theater, and getting to the beach as often as possible.
