Bio

Susan Chen joined the Institute for Advanced Analytics in June 2022.

Susan developed an interest in joining the IAA staff as a result of her husband’s, Stephen So ‘22,  experience in the Master of Science in Analytics (MSA) program! In her dual role, she combines strategic academic operations with a genuine commitment to student growth. She coordinates resources and schedules to deliver the MSA curriculum, tracks program performance data for the Graduate School, and serves as a professional development coach to help students achieve their personal and professional goals. 

Growing up as a restaurant kid and a first-generation college graduate, Susan learned the values of hard work, communication, and community early on. Prior to joining NC State, she managed diverse student programming and recruitment initiatives at UNC-Chapel Hill’s School of Medicine. Today, she uses that background to be a fierce advocate for student success and holistic development at the institute.

In her free time, you’ll find Susan running, junk journaling, cooking new dishes, watching Parks and Recreation, and solving escape rooms with friends.
