Andrea Villanes Arellano joined the Institute for Advanced Analytics in July 2013.
Andrea is a Peruvian-born data scientist, educator, and researcher specializing in analytics, text mining, and data visualization. In her role at the Institute, Andrea teaches and mentors students in areas including big data, cloud computing, programming languages, and practical data science applications.
Beyond academic instruction, Andrea co-founded Women in Technology Perú, an initiative dedicated to empowering women in technology fields across Latin America, and also promotes the use of data science in business and industry throughout the region.
Andrea regularly speaks at international conferences and university events, including engagements in her native Peru and elsewhere, where she shares research insights on text mining and analytics applications. Her work bridges research, education, and community building—cultivating talent and expanding access to data science knowledge globally.
