Brandon Barbour joined the Institute for Advanced Analytics in November 2012.
Brandon brings over two decades of experience in higher education technology and student mentorship to the Institute for Advanced Analytics. He began his career at NC State University in 2000, serving in various technical roles across the university’s helpdesk — supporting campus computing labs, residential networking, and user services — before managing helpdesk operations for the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. In 2012, he returned to campus to join the institute team.
In his dual role at the IAA, Brandon serves as an IT systems administrator and professional development coach. Day-to-day, he maintains the institute’s technical infrastructure, assists students and faculty with troubleshooting, and guides MSA students through career preparation and professional growth. He is passionate about supporting students from both sides of his role — helping them navigate complex technical challenges while building the interpersonal and professional skills needed for the workforce.
Outside of the workplace, Brandon is an avid board game enthusiast who enjoys playing games of all types, staying active on the pickleball court, and getting outdoors to hike. He also enjoys restoring and refinishing furniture, as well as spending quality time with his family.
