Bio

Susan Simmons joined the Institute for Advanced Analytics in July 2016.

Susan teaches a variety of courses at the IAA including logistic regression, time series, optimization, and Bayesian statistics. Her research areas are in the environmental and biological sciences, and she has published over 30 peer-reviewed manuscripts.

She currently serves as secretary of The International Environmetrics Society (TIES) and is an elected member of the International Statistics Institute (ISI). Previously, she has held numerous officer positions within ISI and the American Statistical Association (ASA), and she received the Outstanding Service Award from the Risk Analysis Section of ASA.

She is also the faculty advisor for NC State’s Data Analytics Club.

Prior to coming to NC State, she was a professor of statistics at UNC Wilmington.

In her free time, Susan enjoys spending time with family, hiking, walking and boating.
