Bio

Hunter Glanz joined the Institute for Advanced Analytics in July 2026.

Hunter teaches a variety of courses at the institute including linear algebra, text analytics, and machine learning. His research areas include statistical computing and data science education, but he has also consulted on research across numerous fields including public health, dairy science, marine biology, metabolomics, and remote sensing.

He currently serves on the ASA/AMATYC Joint Committee on Statistics and Data Science and was a founding board member of the California Alliance for Data Science Education. He has regularly spoken at conferences and workshops about data science education and program development, in particular introductory data science in higher education.

He looks forward to getting more involved with data science and analytics across NC State.

Prior to coming to NC State, he was a professor of statistics and data science at California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) in San Luis Obispo, CA from 2014-2025. He then spent a year teaching at California State University, Monterey Bay.

In his free time, Hunter enjoys spending time with family and going to the gym. He especially enjoys finding new and exciting restaurants and bars to try out!
