Welcoming the Class of 2018

The Institute is delighted to announce the matriculation of 115 students in the Class of 2018, the eleventh cohort in the Master of Science in Analytics (MSA) degree program. “What makes the Institute such a wonderful place to teach and learn begins with attracting great students,” said the Institute’s director Dr. Michael Rappa. “They’re smart and ready to work, and we’re delighted to have them with us. Greeting the new cohort is a humbling reminder of the rapid growth and remarkable success of the MSA over the past decade.”

The MSA is one of NC State University’s largest and most-selective graduate programs. For the fourth consecutive year the acceptance rate for applicants in the range of 12- to 14-percent. The admissions committee reviewed over 1,000 applications and interviewed about one-third of the applicants. A total of 147 candidates were offered admission to enroll 115 students. Incoming students represent 20 countries of origin and hail from 18 states and the District of Columbia (including AL, CO, CT, GA, ID, IL, IN, KY, MA, NC, NJ, NY, PA, SC, TN, TX, VA, WV). Over 80 percent of the Class of 2018 are U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Forty-five percent have three or more years of prior work experience, and almost one in five hold advanced degrees.
