Applying to the MSA Program

Prospective students for the Master of Science in Analytics (MSA) may submit their application online with the Graduate School at North Carolina State University by visiting the following link:

Graduate School Online Application

The system permits users to create an account, which then allows you to learn more about the admissions procedure and begin working on your application, even if you do not have all of the necessary information at this time. You can return to the site, log in, and continue to work on the application until it is ready to submit. The application fee is paid upon submission of the completed application.

Applications are reviewed between January and May. Decisions regarding admission will be announced beginning in  April. Applications received subsequently will be considered based upon seating availability.

Applicants must submit all academic transcripts, including one with evidence of completion of a baccalaureate degree with a 3.0 or higher grade point average; up to three letters of recommendation from academic or professional colleagues knowledgeable about your capabilities and character; and scores from the GRE, which must have been taken within the past five years. Please arrange to have the GRE scores sent directly to the Graduate School, North Carolina State University.

Students with a prior advanced degree of a high undergraduate GPA in a relevant major from an accredited university in the United States may request consideration of a waiver of the GRE (we reserve the right to decline). It is suggested that individuals who may qualify for a waiver nonetheless consider taking the GRE to improve their case for admission.

Non-native English speaking applicants except those having recently completed at least one year of full-time study with acceptable grades at a U.S. institution and those from, or who have a degree from, Australia, Canada (except Quebec), Ireland, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom must submit Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores as evidence of ability to use English at a level of competency sufficient for graduate study. (Read more: English Proficiency Requirements for International Applicants).

Candidates for admission must also submit a concise statement of professional objectives and other relevant information as it relates to their motivation to pursue the Master of Science in Analytics.

Important Note about Tuition Reciprocity and Financial Aid

If you are a resident of Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia, you may qualify to attend NC State at tuition rates for NC residents. The Southern Regional Education Board’s Academic Common Market (ACM) is an arrangement among Southern states allowing students to pay in-state tuition rates at out-of-state schools while studying in select programs not available at public institutions in their home state (read more).

NC State is unable to provide financial aid to students pursuing the Master of Science in Analytics. Please do not apply if you are seeking support as a graduate research or teaching assistantship of fellowship. However, please note: the duration of the MSA degree program is ten months instead of normal two years, and therefore the tuition rate is significantly less than the University’s normal cost of a Master of Science degree.

Please contact us with any questions you may have about admission to the program. We encourage interested individuals to apply.
