The Institute’s director Dr. Michael Rappa traveled to Charlotte today to speak at a corporate-wide gathering of the Wells Fargo Enterprise Data and Analytics leadership team convened by the company’s new Chief Data Officer, Dr. Charles Thomas. Dr. Rappa provided executives with an overview of the Institute’s novel 10-month Master of Science in Analytics degree program and its growing pipeline of graduates. Joining him in the presentation were two colleagues from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte: Dean of the Belk College of Business, Dr. Steven Ott, and the director of the university’s new Data Science and Business Analytics program, Dr. Mirsad Hadzikadic. It has become increasingly common for large organizations to appoint a c-suite executive, namely a Chief Data Officer (CDO), to oversee the company’s data strategy, provide enterprise data governance, and determine ways to leverage data for improved risk management and customer experiences.
