The Institute’s director, Dr. Michael Rappa, was the invited guest speaker this evening at a dinner gathering of the Raleigh Chapter of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE) on the NC State campus in Raleigh. Dr. Rappa’s talk focused on how the emergence of Analytics and Big Data will broadly affect the practice of industrial engineering. Founded in 1948, IIE is an international, nonprofit association that provides leadership for the application, education, training, research, and development of industrial engineering. The event was organized by Haleh Byrne, Product Lead for Industrial Engineering and Continuous Improvement, with North Carolina State University’s Industrial Extension Service.
