The Institute is delighted to announce the appointment of Andrea Villanes, an analytics specialist with expertise in statistical and computer programming, to the position of Research Associate. A Class of 2009 graduate in the Master of Science in Analytics (MSA) degree program, Andrea also received a M.S. in Computer Science from NC State University in 2012. Andrea was awarded a grant from the Anita Borg Institute to promote computer science education among young women living in rural areas in her native country of Peru, and was recently featured on Peruvian television. Andrea worked previously as an intern on data and text mining projects with Wal-Mart (Bentonville, Arkansas) and Inmar (Winston-Salem, North Carolina).
