The Institute welcomes once again noted entrepreneur Atul Jain for a special guest lecture. Mr. Jain’s talk, entitled “The Road to Success,” will focus on his experience over two decades starting-up companies on both coasts. The talk will be held on Friday, October 23 from 2:00-5:00 PM in Engineering Building I, Room 1005 on NC State University’s Centennial Campus (space is limited; please RSVP at 513-1613).
Mr. Jain founded TEOCO (The Employee Owned Company) in 1994 with a dream of building a successful business model, not just a successful business. His goal was to build a company that did not compromise its values. TEOCO’s corporate culture is its biggest asset. Mr. Jain has created numerous mechanisms for employee-owners of TEOCO to participate in the decision-making process, encouraging and coaching them to act as owners along the way. The company has created an environment where employee-owners and entrepreneurs can give life to their dreams without compromising their values. Today, TEOCO is the market leader in providing cost, routing, and revenue management solutions to leading communications service providers worldwide. Over 50 of the industry’s leading providers trust TEOCO to deliver unparallel visibility and control over their operations. Fueled by industry leading expertise and innovative technologies, TEOCO saved its customers several hundred million dollars last year alone. TEOCO has been ranked in Inc. Magazine’s List of the fastest growing privately held companies three years straight and is widely recognized for its commitment to principled entrepreneurship, business ethics and employee ownership with a particular emphasis on its core values of alignment with employees, clients and community. In support of alignment with the community, Mr. Jain founded the Emerging Companies campaign in partnership with United Way whereby emerging companies are encouraged to give back to the community.
Prior to starting TEOCO Corporation, Mr. Jain was with a Silicon Valley firm called TIBCO for seven years. At TIBCO, Jain’s focus was to work with Fortune 500 clients to design and build state-of-the-art software solutions leveraging the company’s trademark TIB platform. Mr. Jain developed his entrepreneurial skills under the leadership of Vivek Ranadive, Chairman and CEO of TIBCO and Harvey Wagner, Chairman of Teknekron Corporation, the parent company of TIBCO prior to its purchase by the Reuter’s Group.
